Greenguard Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that oversees the Greenguard Certification Program. This program does third party testing for low-emitting products and materials. GEI is recognized as an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard developer for indoor air quality.
Teknion is the first major office furniture manufacturer to achieve the Greenguard Children & Schools Certification for Indoor Air Quality for its major systems and seating products. The Children & Schools Certification has the most rigorous criteria for product lines to date.
The Children & Schools standard is also applicable to hospitals, healthcare, education, and corporate clients demanding the lowest-emitting furniture available. The program has the most stringent third-party emission limits for chemical contaminants and is specified in the U.S. Green Building Council’s newest rating systems – LEED for Schools and LEED for Healthcare, the Green Guide for Healthcare and other national green building programs.
